Meghan Markle wears £135 ‘evil eye’ pendant signifying ‘protection from negative vibes’ during video call

MEGHAN Markle was spotted wearing an evil eye pendant, a symbol of “protection from negative vibes.”

The Duchess of Sussex was seen wearing the £135 18K gold plated silver charm from Edge of Ember as she wished a young woman good luck with a job interview during a video call.

Last month Meghan, 38, volunteered some time to speak with her patronage Smart Works, which provides clothing and coaching for unemployed women with interviews.

Smart Works released a clip of the video call between LA-based Meghan and the young woman, which took place on March 27, just before she stepped down as a senior royal.

In the clip the mum-of-one can be seen wearing the pendant which, according to its maker, “bears a blue topaz evil eye to protects its wearer from negative vibes.”

The seller adds: “It's got your back.”

This is not the first time that Meghan has relied on the evil eye symbol, having been seen wearing it during her royal tour of Africa with Prince Harry in September.

Meg wore the £450 18-carat chain, by Turkish-inspired jewellery designer Alemdara, as she gave a speech at the Nyanga township in Cape Town.

According to the designer's website: "As per Ottoman legend, an evil eye on your person wards off jealousy from others."

It adds the symbol should "offer the wearer protection and luck" and helps "dispel negative thoughts and energy".

In the video released today Meghan can be seen wearing a purple jumper and had her hair tied back.

She praised the woman saying: “You seem incredibly confident and prepared and I know everyone here is so excited.

“When I was reading about what your interests are – you have a big focus on mental health – I think that is excellent.”

She then asked the young woman what interested her about the internship opportunity, and then said: “I think you are going to be fantastic. It’s just so exciting.

“I just wanted to be able to call in and tell you best of luck and my fingers are crossed for you.

“There is so much going on in the world right now, and to be such a beacon of hope and focusing on getting through it – all the positivity we want to send your way to make sure you can get on the other side of this and have such a great opportunity there.”

The delighted woman replied: “That means so much to me.

“Thank you so much for making this whole thing possible through Smart Works and you championing something like this to empower women, it’s amazing.”

Meghan has been a patron of Smart Works since January 2019 and launched a charity clothing line with them last September.

The Duke and Duchess are currently on lockdown in LA with their baby Archie, after moving from a waterfront, secluded mansion on Vancouver Island earlier this year.

During the self-isolation period, the couple have reportedly signed up to volunteer with Project Angel Food, which takes non-perishable meals to people with critical illnesses around west Hollywood.
